The Lakers have their man – finally.

The team agreed to a three-year deal with former Pacers and Magic coach Frank Vogel to be their next head coach, according to ESPN. The Lakers are pairing him with ex-Nets and Bucks headman Jason Kidd, who will have a prominent role as an assistant, the report said.

Having Kidd on staff was reportedly one of the reasons negotiations broke down with original front-runner Tyronn Lue last week. Vogel, 45, takes over a Lakers team that has gone six years without making the playoffs as LeBron James enters his second season in LA. He takes the reins of the team parted way with Luke Walton after three seasons.

Vogel is 304-291 over eight seasons as head coach, including five trips to the playoffs. He reached the Eastern Conference finals with the Pacers in 2012-13 and 2013-14, both times losing to James and the Miami Heat.
