MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Tuesday, the Nets built and then blew a huge lead in a heartbreaker against the Nuggets. A night later in Memphis, they closed the deal.

The Nets defended their way to a double-digit cushion against the Grizzlies, and this time they held on for a 119-106 win before a crowd of 14,745 at FedEx Forum on Wednesday.

“Our energy was getting better and better and better and increasing every time,” coach Jordi Fernandez said. “And it’s good to see those guys have a fight for each other. That’s a cool thing. So getting stops helps, having control helps.”

That fight produced the most fouls, most free throws conceded and biggest discrepancy at the charity stripe in the entire league.

Fernandez used gamesmanship in the press and got a technical foul just 1:43 into the game.

“What I was doing is just trying to fight for my guys,” Fernandez said. “Sometimes that happens because you want to see that they’re protected so they’re not the ones complaining. And if somebody has to take the next step, it’s going to be me. I want them to be under control, keep fighting and do the right things on the court.”

Maybe it worked. Coming in conceding a league-worst 15.3 more free throws than they take, Wednesday was essentially a wash (29-25 in favor of Memphis).

And the Nets’ defense was able to pull out a huge road win, forcing 22 turnovers that turned into 31 points.

Dennis Schroder continued his hot streak with his Nets high of 33 points — including 11 in a fourth quarter that saw Brooklyn outscore Memphis, 28-16.

“At one point, he said, ‘Just give me the ball. I’ll take care of this.’ And that’s what he does. He’s a leader,” Fernandez said of Schroder. “He puts everybody in place. If he has to score, he scores. And he finished the game. So it’s really, really, really good to have him on the court.”

Schroder shot 5-for-6 in the fourth quarter, and helped hold Ja Morant to a single point in that final period with the game on the line.

The Grizzlies star still flirted with a triple-double with 14 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds, but Schroder and the Nets (2-3) held him to 5-for-16 shooting and just 1-for-6 from deep.

Meanwhile, Schroder got downhill at will and closed out the game, something he and the Nets failed to do up 17 points against the Nuggets the night before.

“I told [Fernandez] that I want to win the game. So, it’s working right now that we’re pushing the ball and I’m getting into the paint and I make the decision from there,” Schroder said. “And I told him to give me the ball, and he said, ‘OK, I got you.’ And, gladly, we won the game.”

The Nets won it after Schroder’s three free throws gave them a 78-64 lead with 8:38 left in the third, only to see that lead evaporate.

Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr. (30 points) knotted it at 83-all with 2:39 left in the third.

With the Nets clinging to a tenuous 93-92 edge early in the fourth, Schroder hit a short jumper after the Grizzlies’ Jaylen Wells turned the ball over out of bounds.

Ziaire Williams stole the ball and fed Schroder for a 3-pointer and a 98-92 lead with 10:14 to play.

“He’s a winner,” Williams said of Schroder, who added a layup to make it 103-95.

The Nets closed it out, even with Nic Claxton resting.

“Everybody’s running around, having multiple efforts. That’s what it takes to win an NBA game, especially against … a great team in the West,” Schroder said. “And we did it all together. Everybody on the defensive end was disruptive, did it as a collective unit. And offensively we were just playing, everybody having fun, touching [the ball], shooting with confidence. And that got us a win.”
