Anthony Edwards continues to serve laughs.
Not long after the Minnesota Timberwolves rookie admitted he didn’t know of Alex Rodriguez — a.k.a. his potential future boss — Edwards is now campaigning for A-Rod’s happiness.
Rodriguez is part of an ownership group, including friend Marc Lore, that’s closing in on a deal to purchase the Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx from current owner Glen Taylor.
In a new interview with GQ, Edwards was asked about his knowledge of A-Rod, following his previous headline-making comment: “I don’t know who that is.”
After admitting he has yet to watch Rodriguez’s baseball highlights, Edwards said, “I know he date J.Lo [Jennifer Lopez], though!”
The interviewer went on to inform Edwards about A-Rod and J.Lo’s recent split that ended the couple’s two-year engagement.
“Damn!” said Edwards, who noted that he’s disappointed over the breakup.
“He gonna be my owner, I want him to be happy.”
When asked if he believes Rodriguez would be happier with Lopez, Edwards said, “Yeah!!”

“They told me he’s a [MLB] Hall of Famer. Somebody told me he’s like the Michael Jordan of baseball,” Edwards told GQ.
Rodriguez took it in stride, re-sharing a video of Edwards’ comments last week.
“Hi, Anthony, I’m Alex!” Rodriguez wrote on his Instagram Story, to which Edwards replied, “What’s good, my guy,” along with a cold sweat emoji.
Edwards also ironically revealed that his “favorite player” is Derek Jeter.
Minnesota’s breakout guard, who’s at the center of Rookie of the Year talks, also mentioned that he’s not worried about the race — which includes Warriors center James Wiseman and Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball, whose ROTY campaigns were each halted by injuries.
“Everybody be askin’ me, I just tell them the same thing: Whoever picking the trophy, whatever it’s called, if they think I am, then yeah. If they don’t, then cool,” said Edwards, the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft.
“I’m just here to play basketball. I’m tryin’ to be the best that I can be.”
Edwards is averaging 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 59 games with the Timberwolves in his first NBA season.
