Kevin Durant has been fined $25,000 for directing obscene language toward a fan during the Nets’ 113-105 win over the Hawks on Friday.
The Nets forward cussed at a heckler who told him to “stop crying” when there was 28 seconds left in the second quarter at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
“Shut yo ass up, motherf—er,” Durant said after he passed the ball to James Harden and ran down the court.
The incident came on a night that saw Durant and Hawks point Trae Young have a few chippy moments — including one in the fourth quarter when Young was frustrated about a hard foul from Durant. The pair met face to face, before they shared a hug.
“I was a little too physical there on that action and I kind of pushed him a bit,” Durant said after the game. “He wanted me to get up out of his space and I respect that. We move on from that. It’s all a part of the game, it’s nothing personal. It’s just all competition.”
Durant finished the Nets’ win 31 points, six assists, five rebounds and three blocks. Young also recorded 31 points to go with 10 assists, seven rebounds and two steals.
The Eastern Conference-leading Nets host the Raptors on Tuesday.
