SALT LAKE CITY – Nets interim coach P.J. Carleismo said before Saturday night’s game against the Jazz that he initially didn’t think Brook Lopez would play after suffering a hard fall in Friday’s loss in Denver.

“Brook’s pretty dinged up,” Carlesimo said. “I didn’t think Brook was going to play, to be honest with you. Brook took a shot.

“I’d say Brook and Gerald [Wallace] aren’t at 100 percent, but my understanding is that they’re both going to go.”

Lopez, who made his first All-Star team this season after spending virtually all of last year dealing with a pair of right foot injuries that limited him to five games, drove to the basket midway through the fourth quarter of Friday’s 109-87 loss in Denver against Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried. After Lopez got past Faried and put up a shot at the rim (which he missed), he came down on the foot of Nuggets forward – and former Knick – Danilo Gallinari, and fell hard on his left side.

Lopez grabbed his leg after the play, but after a foul stopped play at the other end and sent the game into a media timeout, he returned to the game and played for another couple of possessions before sitting for the rest of the night.

It was a rough ending to a rough night for Lopez, who shot 4-for-15 from the field, along with 3-for-9 from the free throw line, and finished with 11 points.
