Lonzo Ball could be taking the next step toward NBA journeyman soon.

The Pelicans have been receiving trade calls on both Ball and sharpshooter JJ Redick and have expressed a willingness to move both, The Athletic reported.

The Pelicans are off to an underwhelming 5-10 start in Zion Williamson’s second season and the report states that trading Ball and Reddick would free up minutes for promising guards Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kira Lewis.

This would be the second time Ball — the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft — would be traded. The former UCLA standout was one of the key pieces in the deal that sent Anthony Davis from New Orleans to Los Angeles.

Ball has showed flashes of meshing well with Williamson in the past, but is not seen as one of the centerpieces of the franchise. Ball has averaged 12 points and 4.7 assists this season in 12 games, while playing just under 32 minutes a night.

It will be curious to see how much the Pelicans can get in return for Ball, but former Suns GM Ryan McDonough sees this report as the Pelicans getting word out that “We’d like to trade these guys so please make us better offers…”

Surely, LaVar would not approve.
