DETROIT — Malik Beasley has gone out of his way to troll the Knicks throughout their first-round series with the Pistons.
In terms of how it affects the Knicks and their mentality, he believes it provides the Pistons an important advantage.
“Mental battle, coach has been preaching this whole year,” Beasley said Thursday morning at shootaround before Game 6. “We’ve gotta be mentally stronger than everybody. I think we are that mentally stronger team.”
After the Knicks’ 106-103 Game 5 loss at Madison Square Garden, Beasley poked fun at Mikal Bridges on X. In response to a Knicks fan posting that “Mikal going for 44 Thursday,” Beasley wrote “Minutes?” in a quote tweet, along with a laughing emoji.
“No comment,” Beasley said of the X post.
Bridges entered Game 6 averaging 14.4 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 percent shooting from 3-point range in the series — all down from his regular-season numbers.

The Pistons’ official account also posted a picture of Beasley with a sign that had that message written on it.
Beasley doubled down on that assertion about the two arenas Thursday.
“Playoff-wise, it’s the best experience I’ve ever had in my entire career,” Beasley said of Little Caesars Arena. “And that’s not cap. Just the atmosphere, the chants that they do, I’ve never heard it before. Just the atmosphere, the energy, is amazing.”

Many of those chants were directed at Jalen Brunson. Fans at Little Caesars Arena have taunted Brunson with “F–k you Brunson” chants as well as a few “KAT’s a p—y” at Karl-Anthony Towns throughout the series.
Despite his comments, though, Beasley does not like being characterized as a villain.
Beasley recently tweeted about Mikal Bridges. JASON SZENES/ NY POST“I’m not an antagonist,” Beasley said. “I’m just having fun. That’s just me, who I am.”
