The Rockets’ Game 5 victory came with a price — and the day after, it doesn’t sound like Chris Paul’s injured right hamstring is getting any better.

The Rockets ruled him out of Game 6 at Golden State, calling the injury a strain. When asked how the hamstring is doing, a Rockets source told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon: “Not good.”

Following the thrilling victory that brought the Rockets within one win of the NBA Finals, the team said Paul would have an MRI exam on Friday and then be reevaluated. He felt “a twinge,” after taking a jumper in the final minute of the win over the Warriors.

Paul has been instrumental in the last two games, both Rockets wins, taking and making big shots. He scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half on Thursday, and added seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals. In the previous game, the 33-year-old Paul scored 27 points.

But if they want to avoid a Game 7 back in Houston, the Rockets will have to get by the Warriors without Paul.
