Rutgers assistant basketball coach Danny Nee has left the program to join the staff at Towson. That leaves a vacancy on head coach Fred Hill Jr.’s staff that could well be filled by Nets assistant Roy Rogers.

The Nets’ assistants have been forced to take pay cuts, and Rogers is mulling a guaranteed multi-year offer from the Scarlet Knights that would be for more money than he stands to earn under Lawrence Frank. It’s worth noting that Hill Jr.’s uncle is ex-Nets assistant Brian Hill, who left the team this week for a job with the Pistons.

Nee _ 410-381 as coach at Nebraska _ is a Brooklyn native, high school teammates with Kareem Abdul Jabbar at Power Memorial and a member of the late Al McGuire’s first recruiting class at Marquette.
