Former Louisville and WNBA player Shoni Schimmel was arrested in her home state of Oregon early Monday morning.

Schimmel, 29, is facing felony charges of assault and criminal mischief, according to the Umatilla County sheriff’s office. 

Schimmel is also facing misdemeanor charges of menacing, recklessly endangering another, harassment and domestic abuse. Her bail is set at $48,750. 

A three-time first-team All-Conference selection at Louisville, Schimmel ranks second in school history with 2,174 points. Her total of 387 three-pointers ranks fifth in NCAA Division I history. 

The Atlanta Dream selected Schimmel with the eighth overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft. A two-time WNBA All-Star, Schimmel earned MVP honors in the 2014 WNBA All-Star Game during her rookie season.

After two seasons with the Dream, Schimmel was traded to the New York Liberty, where she played seventeen games due to concussion issues.

She last played during the 2018 season, appearing in a pair of games for the Las Vegas Aces.
