Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been cited for assault after swinging a chair in frustration over the team’s loss to the Nuggets on Tuesday night and allegedly hitting two women who were working at the arena.

The Timberwolves lost to the Nuggets 112-109 in Game 5 to conclude the teams’ first round series in the NBA playoffs.

After the game, the 21-year-old Edwards was caught on video picking up and swinging a chair on his way to the locker room.

“Anthony Edwards was cited for 3rd Degree Assault after the game Tuesday night,” Denver police confirmed to The Post. “It was reported to Denver Police that while Edwards was walking from the court to the locker room at the conclusion of the game, he swung a folding chair and struck two women who were working at the time. Both women were injured, and at the time it was reported that the injuries were not serious.”

Denversports.com first reported the charges against Edwards.

“We are aware of the alleged incident regarding Anthony Edwards following Game 5 in Denver and are in the process of gathering more information,” the Timberwolves said in a statement. “We have no further comment at this moment.”

Edwards has a court date in June and could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted of the charge.

Edwards was the first-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and just finished his third season with the Timberwolves.

He made his first NBA All-Star appearance this season.

In the regular season, Edwards averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in 2022-23.
