As the opening of sports betting in Monmouth Park nears, gamblers will be treated to less-than-captivating NBA Finals odds. Well, unless you’re ready to bet the Cavaliers, that is.

The Warriors opened as a -1000 favorite to win the series at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas, making them the largest Finals favorite in at least 16 years, per sportsoddshistory.com. In Game 1, they’re giving 12 points, tied for the biggest spread in a NBA Finals game since 1991, per ESPN Stats & Information.

So, Vegas isn’t exactly believing in the Cavs.

It’s hard to argue with that. The Warriors dusted Cleveland in five games last season, and that was when LeBron James had Kyrie Irving by his side. Even after James put the Cavaliers on his back to come back from a 3-2 deficit in the conference finals, Golden State is a much better team on paper.

Right now, that’s being reflected pretty well in the odds.
