Put the conspiracy theories away.

Zion Williamson’s stepfather, Lee Anderson, told the “Off The Bench” podcast that the presumptive No. 1 pick has no plans to return to Duke, despite not hiring an agent yet.

The far-fetched idea gained steam since Tuesday’s NBA draft lottery saw the Pelicans win the No. 1 pick and the ability to draft Williamson. The Undefeated reported that Williamson was “whisked” out of the lottery drawing after looking glum in an ESPN interview, where he said he had never been to New Orleans before. Reports indicated he preferred that his hometown Atlanta Hawks or Knicks get the first pick.

“We’re excited about that. One thing that Zion has always been taught: You accept the things that you can’t change, you change the things that you can change. And this is one of the things that he had nothing to do with,” Anderson told the show, much to the relief of these folks.

“It’s the process of the NBA and certainly we’re excited about the Crescent City down there in New Orleans.”

Williamson still held the option of returning for a sophomore season with the Blue Devils or at least using that as leverage if he wanted to try to force the Pelicans to trade. He will not be taking that drastic step.

“There has been a lot of speculation, but that is not something we have even considered,” Anderson said.
