NFL trade deadline day has arrived.

Several names were dealt prior to Tuesday including Leonard Williams, Kevin Byard, Chase Claypool and J.C. Jackson.

The deadline concludes Oct. 31 at 4 PM.

Last year saw an unprecedented amount of moves ahead of the deadline and there are plenty of rumors floating around to produce similar fireworks.

Jaren Hall still getting his Vikings chance

By Michael Blinn

Josh Dobbs is on the Vikings, but the team is still planning to start rookie Jaren Hall on Sunday.

"The way I really see it as, hopefully, Jaren goes out and plays great on Sunday and there's a lot to build off of there," coach Kevin O'Connell said. "We're still going to prepare Josh Dobbs like he's not only one snap away, but just as we move forward, evaluate what gives us the best possible chance to win."

With starter Kirk Cousins done for the season after an Achilles injury and backup Nick Mullens already on IR, Minnesota was forced to bring in Dobbs from the Cardinals -- along with a seventh-round pick -- for a sixth-round pick in 2024.

Dobbs guided the lowly Cardinals to a 1-7 mark this season, but may be tasked with a heavier lift in Minnesota if Hal isn't up to the task yet.

The Bears may not keep Jaylon Johnson for long

By Michael Blinn

The Bears did not trade corner Jaylon Johnson at the deadline, and it may end up costing them.

The 24-year-old will not engage in contract extension talks with the team for the rest of the season, according to Josina Anderson, after not getting his wish to be dealt away.

With free agency looming, the Bears risk losing him on the open market and not getting anything in return.

All quiet at MetLife

By Michael Blinn

After trading Leonard Williams on Monday, the Giants were otherwise quiet, holding onto veteran corner Adoree Jackson and hanging on to star running back Saquon Barkley.

Joe Schoen also did not add any quarterback depth despite Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor being banged up, simply adding Tommy DeVito to the active roster.

Across the hallway, Joe Douglas had an even quieter afternoon, standing pat with his 4-3 squad. He added two-time Pro Bowl guard Rodger Saffold III to the practice squad with the intent to promote him to the active roster, per Adam Schefter.

Jets signed DL Tanzel Smart and OL Dennis Kelly to the active roster. Signed DL Jalyn Holmes and Saffold to the practice squad. McGovern, Schweitzer and Woods all officially placed on IR.

Broncos keep the gang together

By Michael Blinn

Russell Wilson will still have his two top receivers on the other side of the trade deadline.

It appears Denver had no good offers for wideouts Jerry Jeudy or Courtland Sutton by 4 p.m., according the Jordan Schultz.

The #Broncos are not expected to trade WRs Jerry Jeudy or Courtland Sutton, per source.

Nothing good on the table. @BleacherReport

Patriots stand pat at deadline: source

By Rob Reese

After speculation on names including: Mac Jones, Zeke Elliott, Josh Uche and Kyle Dugger, the Patriots are content to stand pat.

The Patriots listened, but are hanging on to young contract-year guys Josh Uche, Kyle Dugger and Mike Onwenu. Also, I'm told they never got any calls on QB Mac Jones or RB Zeke Elliott.

— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) October 31, 2023

It seems as if the Patriots still have many moving parts -- including what they'll do with Bill Belichick after the season -- but for now it's status quo.

Jaylon Johnson staying in Chicago: sources

By Rob Reese

After rumors flew this morning that Jaylon Johnson was available, it looks like he's staying put.

The Chicago Bears were already active today, acquiring Montez Sweat from the Washington Commanders.

After a day of exploration, Jaylon Johnson is expected to stay in Chicago, sources say. https://t.co/1k8EsFp8gq

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 31, 2023

Either Chicago couldn't get the return they were hoping for with Johnson -- or they're going to try and build around newly acquired Sweat.

Bills trade for Rasul Douglas

By Rob Reese

The Buffalo Bills are bolstering their secondary.

Buffalo has acquired DB Rasul Douglas and a fifth-round pick from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a third-round pick.

Source: #Packers DB Rasul Douglas to the #Bills.

In three seasons with the Packers, Douglas had 10 INT's and should provide much needed help in a division with elite WR's Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Commanders safety reacts to Chase Young, Montez Sweat trades

By Rob Reese

It seems like Safety Kam Curl was caught off guard by the Commanders moves today.

#Commanders starting Safety Kam Curl is as surprised as anyone that the team traded both Chase Young and Montez Sweat at the deadline 😆https://t.co/Yl3Pqo6QGlpic.twitter.com/Ivh49Xu8Wx

— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) October 31, 2023

Curl tweeted a "dazed" emoji when the Sweat trade broke and then wrote "bruh" after news broke of Young being acquired by the 49ers.

Perhaps he wasn't reading a weeks worth of trade rumors leading up to the deadline.

Or maybe he's just sad to see his teammates go. Either way, it marks a reset for Washington, who is hoping to build through the draft.

Browns trade Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Lions

By Rob Reese

When it rains it pours.

Now the trades are rolling in, the latest being Cleveland sending WR Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Detroit Lions for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) October 31, 2023

Peoples-Jones is from Detroit and will bolster their WR room joining Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

With Kirk Cousins injured (achilles) and Jared Goff getting another weapon on offense, the Lions should run away with the NFC North.

Instant trade grades for 49ers acquiring Chase Young

By Rob Reese

Chase Young was traded to the 49ers in exchange for a third-round pick.

Yes, Young fetched less than Montez Sweat, who was traded to Chicago for a second-round pick.

Let's assign a grade for each team.

49ers: A

In recent weeks, QB troubles have left pundits wondering whether or not San Francisco is a legitimate contender. Those conversations will get quieter now.

Giving up a third-round pick for Young, who could be a rental, is a solid move for John Lynch and Co.

Commanders: D

Well, they got something, right?

Still, some will wonder how Sweat returned more than Young did. A plausible explanation here is that perhaps Young remains set on wanting to test free agency in the offseason.

This marks a rebuild, reset or retool for the Commanders, who have given fans little to cheer about in recent years.

Stocking up on draft capital is never a bad play -- as long as the picks hit.

Breaking: Chase Young traded to 49ers

By Rob Reese

Another name off the list.

The San Francisco 49ers made a blockbuster trade for DE Chase Young in exchange for a third-round pick.

Sources: Former No. 2 overall pick #Commanders DE Chase Young is being traded to the #49ers. Incredible. Likely a mid-round pick in 2024.

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 31, 2023

This may conclude the Commanders selloff as they parted ways with Montez Sweat earlier today.

The 49ers D-line gets beefed up with the addition of Young, who will reunite with Ohio State University teammate Nick Bosa.

In recent weeks, the 49ers have looked more vulnerable, prompting them to go all out for Young.

No team has called about Mac Jones

By Rob Reese

Despite his name popping up in the rumor mill, the Patriots allegedly haven't received a single call on QB Mac Jones.

Instead, teams are inquiring about Ezekiel Elliott.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: No NFL team has contacted the #Patriots about possibly trading for QB Mac Jones, per @jeffphowe

Teams have shown interest in trading for RB Ezekiel Elliott however.

More on that here:https://t.co/Qbvoljjullhttps://t.co/TSVbbs2H0Cpic.twitter.com/oH8xU2UupI

— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) October 31, 2023

If the Patriots were hoping to move on from the fourth-year starter, it will have to wait.

Jones has had a turbulent career with the Patriots thus far, sometimes flashing upside, other times making head-scratching throws.

But he'll likely be their starter for the rest of the season, perhaps the last of the Bill Belichick era.
