49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk has a message for Colin Cowherd and Mike Silver following recent chatter over his teammate, second-year quarterback Trey Lance.

To recap, Silver revealed to Cowherd that he’s heard rumblings that while 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff love Lance’s intelligence and athleticism, they are less certain about his arm accuracy.

Cowherd also had a source claim that “he gets arm fatigue” and “needs days off” as the team seeks to repair Lance’s throwing mechanics. Silver said he’s heard that, too.

In response to the apparent talk about Lance, Aiyuk took to Instagram on Tuesday, posting a video of himself catching passes for last year’s third overall pick.

“The only three throws from the day, his arm got fatigued after that…,” Aiyuk sarcastically captioned the post.

Lance started two games for the 49ers as a rookie last season, and one of Aiyuk’s best performances of the year came during one of them. In Week 16 against the Texans, Lance connected with Aiyuk six times for 94 yards, as the Niners won, 23-7.

Reading the tea leaves this offseason, the 49ers are sending every sign that the job is Lance’s. However, they have not yet parted with Jimmy Garoppolo, who may be hovering in the quarterback room, should Lance not perform in accordance with being the starter on a team otherwise constructed to win now.
