The 49ers arrived at MetLife Stadium as the walking wounded and shortly after kickoff, it got even worse for the defending NFC champions.

On consecutive plays, San Francisco lost two key defensive players: Defensive end Nick Bosa and defensive lineman Solomon Thomas. Both were carted off the field. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the 22-year-old Bosa likely tore his ACL.

The 49ers were already without defensive end Dee Ford, cornerback Richard Sherman and tight end George Kittle due to injury. Despite that, they led the Jets 14-3 early, aided by Rasheem Moster’s 80-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.

Both players were immediately ruled out by the 49ers.
