The anonymous tipster who claimed that there was a lying juror on the Aaron Hernandez case is romantically linked to the former New England Patriots player, a prosecutor revealed Monday.

Prosecutor William McCauley says in new court papers that the female tipster had extensive contact with Hernandez, writing him sexually explicit letters throughout the trial and hoping to continue their relationship once he was released.

The tipster surfaced in court documents recently filed by Hernandez’s lawyer, James Sultan, after the disgraced football star was convicted of murdering Odin Lloyd after a dispute at a club.

McCauley called Sultan’s plan to question the mystery woman under oath an “unwarranted fishing expedition” that is just a ploy to get a new trial.

Sultan has claimed that the tipster worked with the juror. She suggested that the juror knew about the 2012 Boston double-murder case that Hernandez also has been tied to. Any mention of that case was barred from being discussed at the Lloyd trial.

The juror, whose name and gender are still unknown, allegedly lied about knowing of the other murder case because the panelist didn’t want to be disqualified from serving on a high-profile case such as Hernandez’s, according to the Boston Globe.

Sultan has said the tipster called him numerous times after his client’s conviction of first-degree murder in Lloyd’s death.

Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

He is currently awaiting trial in the Boston double-murder case and has pleaded not guilty.
