Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has no regrets about the comments he made suggesting teammates should be benched for some of the mental mistakes they’ve made this season.

“People in this society have a hard time hearing the truth,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

Rodgers also said he has made these concerns known to the players in private as well. The Packers have had a slow start to the season, posting a 3-4 record through seven games, including three losses in a row.

The Packers’ start likely can be attributed to the team not having as many playmakers on their offense amid the absence of wide receiver Davante Adams, whom the Packers traded to the Raiders this offseason.

Rodgers said there weren’t any specific players in mind when he made those comments.

“I think it’s just, you know, we’ve got to get our best eleven on the field. We can’t have the same double-digit, fifteen-plus mental errors and expect to move the ball efficiently.”

Rodgers himself shouldn’t be devoid of criticism, though. He’s already thrown three interceptions this year, one fewer than his total for last season.

When Rodgers was asked about what it will take to fix the mistakes, he said time.

“You know, we have a schedule. We’re creatures of habit,” Rodgers said. “But when we leave this place, we’ve got to be making sure we’re doing the right thing when we’re home. Some of that’s watching film. Some of that’s studying the plan. Some of that’s studying ourselves. But we’ve got to make sure we’re ready to go every single day we step in the building.”

Rodgers said he believes his teammates haven’t put in the effort required to go above the bare minimum, which is saying something considering he often doesn’t attend offseason workouts or get together with teammates for throwing sessions.

The Packers have a big test Sunday night when they travel to Buffalo for a game against the heavily favored Bills. If the Packers want to make something of their season, upsetting the Bills would be a good start.
