Aaron Rodgers has made his first appearances on social media since the Packers shockingly decided to draft 21-year-old quarterback Jordan Love.
The football world has been abuzz since the controversial pick, with many, including Brett Favre, speculating that the Rodgers-Love dynamic is doomed to fail. Notably absent from any of the frenzy has been the Packers’ current signal-caller.
Rodgers, who is usually very active on Instagram, broke a week-long hiatus Thursday night and posted a photo of him sitting on a rock with an idyllic mountain range in the background. The photo was captioned, “”#chillvibes #highzobes #relax #”
The 36-year-old is social distancing in his home state of California. Rodgers was raised in Chico and attended the University of California, Berkley. He and Danica Patrick own a home in Malibu, which they purchased in December for $28 million.
Moments later, the eight-time Pro Bowler posted two photos from a Kentucky Derby fête from a past year that he spent with many of his past and current teammates, including wide receivers Davante Adams and Randall Cobb, offensive tackles David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga and tight end Jimmy Graham.
The album was captioned, “Derby week. Missing being in Louisville with #thecrew 💪🏼❤️💯#derbyweek #”
Rodgers has been inactive on social media since the start of the 2020 NFL Draft when he posted a couple of sentimental throwback photos to when he was drafted 15 years ago, without any premonition of the irony that would unfold.
Love said he and Rodgers were able to connect after the draft, which could indicate that Rodgers may cooperate at least to some degree in the passing-of-the-torch ritual.
“Really good guy,” Love said to Maria Taylor during ABC’s Broadcast of the 2020 NFL Draft. “Just congratulated me, and I was just letting him know that I was excited to be able to work with him.”
“I would do all I could to not burn that bridge and I don’t think that [the Packers] did that,” Favre told the “Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday after speaking to Rodgers. “I think that they burned a bridge that’s going to be hard to overcome. At some point, I think it will rear its ugly head.”
