Aaron Rodgers wants to make something clear about his new contract: He isn’t some kind of a hero for saving the Jets $35 million on his new deal.

The way the future Hall of Fame quarterback sees it, they are in what he termed a “few years partnership,” the star player and his new team, and by saving Gang Green some cash in terms of the salary cap the next two years, he is creating flexibility for them to add players of significance, either now, prior to the trade deadline or next offseason.

“It was the right thing to do,” Rodgers said on Tuesday. “I’m very well paid, so I have no problem with what I’m getting paid.”

The 39-year-old Rodgers reduced the guaranteed money that he was owed in 2023 and 2024 from $110 million — as per the terms of his contract signed with the Packers — to $75 million over the next two years.

Rodgers said he is open to playing more than two more years, depending on how well his body holds up.

Rodgers also downplayed the extent of how much money he passed up, saying he has made plenty of money during his career.

He already is the highest-paid player in NFL history with $305.6 million in on-field earnings, according to Spotrac.

“I feel great about what I’m making,” he said. “It wasn’t really a negotiation … it was an easy conversation between me and [general manager] Joe [Douglas], talking about the state of the team and the opportunities that could be out there, that are out there.”

Rodgers also said he wouldn’t mind playing in a preseason game, but wouldn’t push the matter.

The last preseason game against the Giants on Aug. 26 is a possibility.

Rodgers last appeared in a preseason game in 2018.

A fracas broke out during team drills after a Michael Carter carry.

Offensive guard Laken Tomlinson got into it with several defensive players.

It was broken up, before another scrum broke out, after defensive tackle Tanzel Smart punched Tomlinson from behind.

“The fights are going to happen,” coach Robert Saleh said. “They already [have] happened, but the extra [stuff] is where I’m looking for guys to pull it apart so we can get back to work. Good learning experience for all of them to make sure cooler heads prevail, but the extra [punch] was unnecessary for sure.”

Receiver Garrett Wilson (low ankle sprain) is expected to return to practice on Saturday while fellow receiver Corey Davis was back after missing several practices due to an undisclosed illness. … Former Jets defensive end Marvin Washington was in attendance. So was the Rutgers men’s basketball team and coach Steve Pikiell.
