Aaron Rodgers returned to the field for the first time on Sunday since testing positive for COVID-19.

The Packers quarterback, who has been at the center of controversy following comments made about the COVID vaccines and is also unvaccinated, appeared to get the home crowd excited early on during the opening drive against the Seahawks at Lambeau. The game, however, remained scoreless following a failed field goal attempt from kicker Mason Crosby.

Rodgers cleared COVID protocols and rejoined the team on Saturday.

Ahead of kickoff Sunday, ESPN reported that Rodgers would hold his post-game press conference over Zoom.

Earlier this week, the reigning MVP acknowledged that he had “misled” the public about his vaccination status and said on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he takes “full responsibility.”

“I misled some people about my status, which I take full responsibility for those comments,” Rodgers said Tuesday, after previously telling the media in August he was “immunized.”

“I’m an athlete, I’m not an activist,” the 37-year-old continued. “[My vaccine belief] wasn’t one that was come to frivolously, it came from a lot of stuff. Further comments I’m going to keep between myself and my doctors. I don’t have further comments about anything after this interview.”

Rodgers was sidelined last week as he remained quarantined at home, with backup quarterback Jordan Love taking the reins. The Packers lost to the Chiefs, 13-7.
