As critics denounce Adrian Peterson, the star running back doesn’t have many in his corner. Except, maybe, God?
Peterson, who has been publicly quiet since he was indicted on a charge of injuring his son earlier this week, took the passive aggressive route Sunday in defending himself — posting a select few Bible passages, the most relevant highlighted — on Twitter.
“Come to me and rest. Give your mind a break from its habitual judging,” the opening verse reads, as the 29-year-old appears to take advice from his heavenly father rather than more down-to-Earth father types, like Cris Carter.
“When you become preoccupied with passing judgment, you usurp My role,” reads another highlighted section.
The Vikings’ perennial All-Pro running back did not play during the Vikings’ game Sunday amid claims he beat his 4-year-old son with a switch in May. Peterson turned himself in on Saturday and was released on $15,000 bail, but Minnesota — during one of the worst weeks in NFL history that was low-lighted by footage of Ray Rice punching his girlfriend making the rounds — deactivated its best player for a game against the Packers.
