Adrian Peterson wants the Tom Brady experience.

The 35-year-old running back told TMZ Sports that despite his numerous accolades, he still wants to add a Super Bowl championship to his résumé and thinks Brady can help make it happen.

“That would definitely be something I’m interested in,” Peterson, an impending free agent, said of the prospect of joining the Buccaneers in 2021. “If they want me to be a part of it, I’ll be a part of it for sure. Because I’m definitely trying to add a trophy to my résumé.

“Playing with Tom Brady, that by itself is enticing.”

Brady, 43, has already helped veterans Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown — both of whom missed last season for different reasons — reinvigorate their careers and win a Super Bowl ring. The hypothetical move would reunite Peterson with head coach Bruce Arians. The two overlapped in Arizona in 2017 after the running back was traded from the Saints to the Cardinals midseason.

Peterson just wrapped up his 14th season in the NFL as a member of the Lions. The future Hall of Famer signed a one-year deal days before the season kicked off and appeared in all 16 games while splitting time with 2020 second-rounder D’Andre Swift and Kerryon Johnson. He tallied 156 attempts for 604 yards, seven touchdowns and caught 12 passes for 101 yards.

The 2007 first-round pick is best-known for his time as a member of the Vikings (2007-2016), with whom he was named to seven Pro Bowls, earned four first-team All-Pro nominations, won the NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year award in 2012 and was the NFL’s rushing yards leader three times. The Oklahoma product has eight 1,000-yard seasons and became just the seventh player in NFL history to break 2,000 rushing yards in 2012.

The running back position has been a pain point for Tampa Bay, which hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Doug Martin in 2015. The 2021 Super Bowl champions relied on a committee of Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones, with occasional sightings of veteran LeSean McCoy and 2020 third-round pick Ke’Shawn Vaughn this season.

Jones, 23, is entering the final year of his rookie deal and Fournette, 26, becomes a free agent this offseason. Neither has solidified himself as the Buccaneers’ star rusher.

Peterson has advanced to four postseasons (all with the Vikings), but has not made an appearance in the Super Bowl. He turns 36 next month.
