The Saints will be without running back Alvin Kamara for the first three weeks of the season.
The NFL announced Kamara’s three-game suspension on Friday, wrapping up a case from early 2022 when the running back was arrested for assault in Las Vegas while he was in town for the Pro Bowl.
“I was completely wrong,” Kamara told reporters.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara is suspended for the first three games of the NFL season after an assault incident in Las Vegas in early 2022. APKamara pled no contest last month to a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace, avoiding felony battery charges, stemming from an incident in which the running back and several associates allegedly pushed down and kicked a man in an altercation outside an elevator at the Cromwell Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
“Poor judgment on my end, definitely a bad decision, but I’m a man,” Kamara said before the decision was announced, per ESPN. “Anything I’ve ever done in my life, I’ve stood on and I can take accountability for. … I embarrassed the Saints, I embarrassed my family and my mother, I embarrassed myself, I embarrassed this city and the shield, obviously I embarrassed the NFL.”
In the terms of the plea agreement, Kamara is required to complete 30 hours of community service and pay $105,000 for medical expenses for the victim.

They weren’t the only NFLers to have a punishment handed down on Friday.
The league also announced suspensions for Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu and Seahawks receiver D’Wayne Eskridge, six games apiece for violating the personal conduct policy.
Omenihu was arrested in January for allegedly pushing his girlfriend during an argument, though he played in the NFC Championship game against the Eagles days later.
