Baker Mayfield officially wants out of Cleveland, formally requesting a trade from the Browns.

“It’s in the mutual interest of both sides for us to move on. The relationship is too far fine to mend. It’s in the best interests of both sides to move on,” Mayfield told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo reports that the Browns “said no” to Mayfield’s trade request.

The Seahawks have discussed a possible Mayfield pursuit, according to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson.

It has been an awkward week in the relationship between the Browns and Mayfield. The Browns openly tried to recruit Deshaun Watson, who informed them they are out of the running for his services.

Mayfield wrote what felt like a goodbye letter to the fans of Cleveland. The Browns leaked to Chris Mortensen that they want an “adult” at quarterback.

Mayfield’s performance lagged last season as he played through a shoulder injury. The Browns, who had come into the season with high expectations following a playoff berth the year before, went 8-9 and missed the playoffs this past season.

This situation should make for lots of drama between now and when it’s resolved.
