Bears rookie safety Jaquan Brisker believes Patriots quarterback Mac Jones kicked him below the belt on purpose during Monday’s 33-14 win over New England.
“Looking back, when he first slid, he had tried to trip me, so I feel like the second time was intentional,” Brisker said on the “Bernstein & Holmes Show” on Wednesday. “After looking back at the film, it looked intentional.
“But after the game, he came up to me and apologized. But I’ll say, the first two times, it looked very intentional during those slides,” Brisker said. “I tried to avoid him. The way he slid, he slid with his feet on the ground first. I tried to avoid him, and he kicked his foot up. So it was very intentional to me.”
Luckily, Brisker wasn’t hurt by Jones’ kicks.
“It was a little sore, but I feel good now,” he said, laughing.

“He just came up to me and said that he apologized,” Brisker said. “I think he said he didn’t mean to do it or something like that … I just told him I hope he can get healthy and things like that, good luck.”
Jones returned to action in Monday’s matchup against the Bears after missing three games due to a severe high-ankle sprain. The quarterback was benched for rookie backup Bailey Zappe in the second quarter.

Getty ImagesBrisker intercepted one of Jones’ passes, making an epic one-handed interception that was a turning point for the Bears’ eventual blowout win against the Patriots. Jones was replaced by Zappe on the following drive.
“It felt great getting my first interception,” Brisker said. “When he threw it, I just told myself to capitalize on it. I was kind of shocked because I really hadn’t gotten a ball in a couple weeks, especially when I’m on the back on the back end playing split safety there’s not many opportunities. I just told myself that I have to capitalize and get it.”
The Bears visit the Cowboys on Sunday, while the Patriots play the Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
