The Bears divorce from Chase Claypool is complete.
The Bears traded the disgruntled receiver to the Dolphins on Friday morning.
The Bears included a 2025 seventh-round pick in the deal and will get back a 2025 sixth-rounder from the Dolphins, The Athletic reported.
Claypool has been a healthy scratch the past two weeks after questioning his role in the Bears offense.
“You’re always disappointed in this situation and it’s definitely something I take ownership of…,” GM Ryan Poles told ESPN 1000 of Claypool before the Bears got their first win of the season on Thursday night against the Commanders.
The Bears traded a second-round pick to the Steelers last season for Claypool in what will go down in a monumental mistake for Poles.

“Sometimes the things around you either elevate you or you have to adapt to allow you to elevate with them,” the 25-year-old wideout said previously. “So I’ve just been adapting to the new system and my new role in the system and trying to make the most out of it.”
The dissatisfaction became mutual between Claypool and the team, which the ultimately nets the Bears nothing but a late-round pick swap.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t work out and we were hoping for him to be a little bit more productive and be someone that could help us take it to the next level,” Poles said on the trade to acquire Claypool a year ago.
Chase Claypool had a rough tenure with the Bears. APIn seven games last season with the Bears, Claypool had just 14 receptions for 140 yards without a touchdown.
After contradictory remarks about Claypool’s status with the team, a spokesperson for the Bears clarified last week Claypool was in fact asked not to come to the game against the Denver Broncos and subsequently the Thursday night Commanders game as well.
The Bears offense has improved significantly in the two games without Claypool, scoring 68 points in a loss to Denver and a win in Washington.
Chicago was 0-12 with Claypool part of the team.
The second-round pick the Bears gave up for Claypool was the No. 32 overall selection given that Chicago was the worst team in football last season.
The Steelers used it to select promising cornerback Joey Porter Jr. out of Ohio State.
