The Mitch Trubisky experience is heading to Buffalo.
Trubisky, the polarizing former Bears quarterback, has signed a one-year deal with the Bills to become Josh Allen’s backup, the team announced Thursday.
The No. 2-overall pick in 2017, Trubisky made 50 starts across four seasons in Chicago, completing 64 percent of his passes for 10,609 yards, 64 touchdowns and 37 interceptions. He also rushed 190 times for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns, but fumbled 27 times.
“I don’t know what went on in Chicago, but he started 50 games,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane told reporters Thursday. “… I think the label has been put on Mitchell from afar that maybe he doesn’t deserve it. This is a reset for him. We don’t expect him to be here long term.”

Last fall, after having his fifth-year option declined, he lost his starting job to Nick Foles by Week 4. He did win it back later in the season and helped the Bears back to the playoffs, albeit with an 8-8 record.
