There are plans in the works for the Bills to build a new stadium in Orchard Park, but it could cause complications for the franchise.

The team may need to find a temporary home because the new stadium, which hasn’t been fully approved by the government, likely won’t be ready by the time its current lease at Highmark Stadium expires in 2023.

Toronto and Penn State are both possibilities for the Bills if they can’t extend the lease with their current home, according to News 8 in Buffalo.

Bills owner Terry Pegula is a Penn State alumnus, who donated more than $100 million to the university in 2011 to launch a Division I hockey program and fund a state-of-the-art arena. Toronto’s proximity to the Bills also would make it a logical choice for the Bills.
