Why ambush Rob Ryan? Because he isn’t like Lil Wayne, of course.

Rex Ryan’s long-haired twin brother was the target of a botched robbery in New Orleans last year when he was working as the Saints’ defensive coordinator, according to court docs obtained by the New Orleans Advocate. A federal worker was tipped off after a conspirator accidentally left her a 2-minute, 16-second voicemail discussing the robbery plan.

“He don’t got no security. He’s just a regular football coach … He ain’t … big … like Lil Wayne or nobody … that got bodyguards everywhere,” the voice said, according to the papers.

“He ain’t like Lil Wayne,” they continued. “He just a … football coach .. Defensive coordinator of the Saints. He don’t have not bodyguards … in front of his house.”

The federal worker — she had recently joined the U.S. Office of Personnel Management in New Orleans, and got a new cellphone number — turned the voicemail over to local police, who stationed officers outside Ryan’s home for protection.

Two suspects have been connected to the scheme to hold up Ryan, and they were indicted along with six others last month in connection to a conspiracy to stage a string of robberies in the affluent Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans. The two men were not charged specifically in the Ryan case.

After being fired by the Saints, Ryan got a job working for his brother as the Bills’ assistant head coach.
