It was a heck of a run, but the Giants were due for a loss at some point. It came in Seattle on Sunday in a game where the offense could not muster anything and Richie James lost two punt returns. That’s a recipe for a loss in a rowdy atmosphere in Seattle. The Giants are still 6-2 entering a much-needed bye week and any fan would sign up for that.
To react to the 27-13 loss to the Seahawks and look ahead to the trade deadline and bye week, we bring you a new episode of the “Blue Rush” podcast with Lawrence Tynes, Brandon London and me.
Blue Rush Podcast with Lawrence Tynes, Brandon London & Jake Brown:
- LOSS TO SEAHAWKS: The Giants’ four-game win streak has come to an end. The offense could not get anything done. Richie James’ two turnovers really hurt them. They may not be able to keep him out there as the punt returner because it’s in his head now. Geno Smith deserves a lot of credit.
- POTENTIAL TRADE TARGETS: Tynes doesn’t think the Giants need to make a move. They are not a receiver away. They can win 10 or 11 games without going out and getting someone. Me and Brandon believe they need to go get someone to help. It’s hard to rely on Kenny Golladay. Do they go out and get a tight end? T.J. Hockenson from the Lions?
- TONEY TRADE: Full reaction to the Kadarius Toney trade to the Chiefs. The Giants get a nice return for a guy that didn’t do anything here and was never on the field. They have a few extra draft picks now to use in a trade to bring in a playmaker. Golladay really needs to step up when he returns and be the playmaker that they hoped he would be.
- BYE WEEK: This is a good football team. It needs to go 4-5 the rest of the season most likely to get to the playoffs, which it should be able to do. The defense is playing terrific. Unheralded players are stepping up. When they are fully healthy, they will be even better. Big Blue fans should be thrilled where the team is at heading into their bye week. They should be able to beat the Texans and Lions coming up at home, but they won’t be easy games.
