The Giants had not won a season opener in six years.

And then came Sunday.

And, boy, was it a win for the ages to start off a new regime. Talk about a culture change. Coach Brian Daboll made a brass cojones move: down one point after a touchdown with a minute to go on the road in Tennessee, he made the decision to go for the two-point conversion and the win. It worked. They got help from Titans kicker Randy Bullock missing a potential game-winning field goal and the Giants made a statement, taking down Tennessee 21-20 after being down 13-0 at the half.

We have not had many victory editions of the “Blue Rush” podcast, but Sunday night was all smiles with Lawrence Tynes, Paul Schwartz and new co-host Brandon London.

Blue Rush Podcast with Brandon London, Lawrence Tynes & Paul Schwartz:

  • DABESGOES FOR 2/CULTURE CHANGE: Coach Daboll made a statement by going for two that this Giants team means business. Even if it didn’t work, it’s hard to hate the decision to go for the win. Daboll was electric in the locker room dancing with players after the game. He also did some yelling at Daniel Jones on the sidelines instead of coddling him. Daboll going for two is a sign of a culture change.
  • SAQUON’S BACK: Saquon Barkley arguably had the best game of his NFL career Sunday. He looked like the Saquon of old and was running with a purpose. He spoke a lot about feeling like himself again and being ready for a prime season and he sure looked like it against the Titans.
  • STERLING IS STERLING: Shepard was down with injuries the past few years. He looked good and made a big play Sunday. He spoke very highly of Saquon and both of them were in a dark place, but could have big years if they stay on the field.
  • NO TONEY: Why is Kadarius Toney barely on the field? Is there something else going on there?
  • SCHEDULE: The Panthers come to MetLife Stadium Sunday and then the Cowboys without Dak Prescott. Is it too early to say there is a chance the Giants can get off to a 3-0 start?
