Tony Romo left the Patriots out of a Super Bowl prediction last week, and Tom Brady noticed.
The former Cowboys quarterback picked the Packers and Jaguars to face off in next year’s big game. And when the NFL posted the prediction on its Instagram account, Brady needled his former colleague in the comments.
“We will see Tony, we will see!”
Romo made the prediction from the American Century Championship, a celebrity golf tournament that he won in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Aaron Rodgers and Blake Bortles also played in the event.
Rodgers, though, was not too happy to be picked by Romo, who will be calling the Super Bowl with Jim Nantz.
Romo called the Packers the “team to beat” after they finished 7-9 last season, when Rodgers missed significant time with a broken collarbone.
“I wish that he wouldn’t say things like that because it’s kind of better to fly under the radar sometimes, especially in the NFC,” Rodgers told NFL Network.
The CBS announcer said the addition of Jimmy Graham will elevate the Packers’ offense.
“I think you’ll see a couple things that I think are key,” he said. “The Jimmy Graham addition is going to be very big. A lot of the field goals are going to turn into touchdowns because of that and having him as a weapon.”
Blake Bortles told NFL Network last weekend the Jaguars caught other teams off-guard last season, but a 10-6 record and a trip to the AFC Championship makes that unlikely to happen again.
“I think the way we played, as good as our defense was, I think we’re definitely a bit on people’s radars now,” he said.
