Give Nathaniel Hackett credit: He knows he needs help.
The first-year Broncos coach is bringing in veteran assistant coach, Jerry Rosburg, to assist with game management issues that have plagued Denver early in the season, 9News’ Mike Klis is reporting.
The 66-year-old Rosburg has been out of football after retiring prior to the 2019 season. He had spent 11 years as an assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the Ravens following stints with the Browns and Falcons.
In just two games as an NFL head coach, Hackett has already made some questionable decisions. Opting for a 64-yard field goal in a Week 1 loss to the Seahawks was one of them, and he even admitted he has to do a better job making decisions quicker.

AP“It’s something we’ve jumped into and wanted to make sure we can get better at that,” Hackett said on Wednesday. “And it starts with me. I’m trying to do every single thing I can to put myself in better position to make quicker, faster, more efficient decisions. George, (assistant GM Darren Mougey), all those guys have been absolutely spectacular in helping me through that process. That is something that is new for me. And I think we’re going to have some good answers as we move forward.”
Rosburg has spent the week in Denver and will assist Hackett this week in the Broncos’ game against the 49ers on Sunday night.
