Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Jedrick Wills Jr. took to Twitter on Monday to clarify his comments earlier in the day when he said “there’s no drop-off” from starter Baker Mayfield to backup Case Keenum.
“Bro y’all are weird,” Wills tweeted, along with two laughing emojis. “Case played a good game, not s–tting on Bake at all. Relax.”
Wills, who returned to the Cleveland lineup against the Broncos after an ankle injury caused him to miss a pair of games, had been asked about the confidence level of the Browns with Keenum at quarterback instead of Mayfield, who missed Cleveland’s win on Thursday with a left-shoulder injury — one that could keep him out multiple games, according to CBS Sports.
“(The confidence level is) very good,” Wills said. “We didn’t feel any drop-off. Case is a veteran guy who’s played in, he’s probably played in more games than I have my whole career, you know what I’m saying? So there’s no drop-off. Everything felt very smooth, ran the offense smooth.”

Getty Images (2)Cleveland defeated the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, 17-14, and Keenum completed 21 of 33 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown — including what ended up as the game-winning touchdown pass to Johnny Stanton in the final minute of the third quarter. It was his first start since 2019, when he started eight games with the Washington Football Team after compiling 30 combined starts across the previous two seasons with the Broncos and Minnesota Vikings.
For Mayfield, the absence snapped his stretch of 53 consecutive starts that dated back to 2018 when he was a rookie. The Browns next face the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, and Mayfield didn’t practice again on Monday.
