An enthusiastic Myles Garrett returned to Browns practice on Wednesday, nine days after the 26-year-old defensive end was involved in a scary, single-car crash.

The former first-overall pick — who suffered shoulder and biceps strains in last week’s incident — was seen giving a wink to the camera as he warmed up on the field and took part in drills ahead of the Browns’ Week 5 matchup against the Chargers, according to Cleveland.com.

“He’s a big part of what we do, so good to have him back out there,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday, per ESPN.

Garrett was initially hospitalized last Monday after the crash, which saw his vehicle flip over multiple times. The two-time All-Pro is said to have “swerved to avoid an animal on the wet road,” leading to the vehicle flipping over, according to NFL Network. He was leaving the Browns’ practice facility at the time.

Days after Garrett was discharged from the hospital, he spoke about the incident to reporters and expressed how “grateful” he was that his injuries weren’t much worse.

“Definitely grateful to be here, with what I saw right after, the pictures. It was a hell of an event and I’m just grateful I’m alive,” Garrett said. “I was able to have so much of my family and my support system that was around me, and just keeping me locked in and keeping me focused on taking it day by day.”

Garrett was issued a citation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which stated he was going at an “unsafe speed for the type of roadway,” ESPN reported. Garrett is said to have been driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Garrett was the top pick by the Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft. He went on to sign a five-year, $125 million contract extension with the team in July 2020.

It remains to be seen if he’ll play against the Chargers in Cleveland on Sunday.
