Buccaneers running backs coach Skip Peete suffered “a medical episode” during Wednesday’s walk-through practice and had to be moved offsite for further evaluations, per the team.
“He was attended to by team medical personnel and was responsive, coherent, and in stable condition prior to being transported off site for further medical evaluations,” the statement said.
A since-deleted video from Fox13 showed an individual on the ground being attended to by several individuals while players in white jerseys stood around.

“Right now, he’s coherent, he’s doing fine,” coach Todd Bowles told reporters of Peete’s condition. “They’re still running tests. Right now, preliminarily, dehydrated.”
The 2025 season marks Peete’s third with the organization, long enough to leave an impression on his players.
“It’s definitely scary,” quarterback Baker Mayfield said. “Luckily, he was alert after, kinda making some jokes, so that’s good. In the moment… much bigger than the game of football. When something like that happens to somebody close to you, it puts things into perspective.”
Peete previously served in the same role with the Cowboys (2020-22, 2007-12), Rams (2016-19), Bears (2013-14) and Raiders (1998-2006).
Peete also held positions in the collegiate ranks with Rutgers, UCLA, Michigan State and Pittsburgh, and is the brother of former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete.
Under Peete’s guidance, the Buccaneers’ rushing attack has been a solid unit over the past few years while the team has won won its third and fourth straight division titles during his time.
