Mike Evans will be out, most likely until “toward the end of the year” with a broken clavicle after leaving Monday’s Buccaneers loss to the Lions in the second quarter.

The Tampa Bay wide receiver slammed hard into the ground trying to make a catch with a defender draped all over him.

“He has a broken clavicle and he’ll be out mostly toward the end of the year. We’ll see what happens,” head coach Todd Bowles told reporters after the game.

The Buccaneers initially announced he was out for the remainder of the game with a shoulder injury and concussion after he was carted off to the locker room.

Evans looked as though he was going to make the catch on the deep throw from Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, but as he came down, Evans slammed into the ground hard and the ball was knocked loose.

The receiver appeared to be in immediate distress and was tended to by the Bucs medical staff.

After a few minutes, he was able to get up and walk off the field with some assistance, but Evans was visibly woozy as he made his way to the sideline.

The cart was brought out for him to get to the team’s locker room.

“It’s never good to see one of your stars go down like that, especially when they’re just coming back and everybody is excited to see him,” Bowles said. “It’s a tough blow and we’ve been holding it down since he’s been gone. We just have to regroup and come back.”

Evans had just gotten back from dealing with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the past three weeks.

He did not record a catch before he was injured despite being targeted four times in the first half.

The injury and time he’ll miss from this latest setback likely means the end of Evans’ streak of 1,000-yard seasons, which had reached 11 times to tie NFL legend Jerry Rice for the most consecutive in NFL history.

Evans would have broken the record had he been able to reach the 1,000 receiving yards mark in 2025.

Evans has 14 catches for 140 yards and a touchdown this year.
