The NFL world had mixed responses to the news that former Patriots star Aaron Hernandez committed suicide on Wednesday morning.

The convicted murderer hanged himself in jail, and though his former team — set to visit the White House on Wednesday — opted not to comment, those who played against him did on social media.

One — former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese — even celebrated Hernandez’s demise before realizing that perhaps he had gone too far.

Reese, now a Philadelphia radio host, apologized before quickly changing the subject with a tweet storm about the Eagles’ draft prospects.

Others around the league were confused and saddened by the news, which came days after Hernandez was found not guilty in a double-murder trial. Hernandez was still serving a life sentence for killing Odin Lloyd in 2013, though his lawyer said he planned to appeal that conviction.
