The pain was evident hours after Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear in his left knee as he took to social media to address fans.
Mahomes’ season is done.
But the star quarterback made sure to thank Chiefs Kingdom for their support after his injury and to assure them that he would be back.

Mahomes suffered the devastating injury in the final minutes of Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Chargers, getting taken down just after he had thrown the ball away.
It was clear almost immediately that Mahomes was in serious pain and he had to be helped back to the Chiefs’ locker room.
The team said in a statement later on that an MRI confirmed the ACL tear and that “Patrick and the club are currently exploring surgical options.”

“I just hugged him, man. That’s my brother,” Chris Jones told reporters after the game. “We’ve been through so much. … We love Pat, that’s my guy.”
Gardner Minshew II predicted that Mahomes would come back to lead the team once again.

“I don’t think I’ve ever respected anybody I play with more. I’ve never seen anybody I play with give so much of themselves to the team,” Minshew said. “I have more confidence in him than anybody to come back better than ever.”
The Chiefs have three games left in the season, and the team was eliminated from the playoffs Sunday.
