Center Creed Humphrey and the Chiefs have come to an agreement that makes the veteran NFL player the highest-paid center in the league’s history, according to multiple reports. 

The four-year deal is worth $72 million with $50 million guaranteed, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported

Humphrey has started in every game he’s played since the Chiefs drafted him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, which includes 51 regular season games and 10 playoff contests over his career.

He’s been a Pro Bowler in two of his first three seasons in the NFL and has won two Super Bowl titles with the Chiefs.

Humphrey was also named second-team AP All-Pro in 2022.

The University of Oklahoma product has been a crucial part of of the Chiefs past Super Bowl runs, protecting quarterback Patrick Mahomes as a strong pass protector and a run blocker.

Mahomes had signed a large contract extension with the Chiefs but restructured his deal in order to provide Kansas City with salary cap relief so that the franchise could make another push for a Super Bowl championship. 

This is Humphrey’s fourth season in the NFL. 

He was scheduled to make $4.815 million as a base salary in the final year of his rookie deal.
