Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson took to Instagram on Monday to share that he underwent surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, after he was shot twice in the leg in a robbery attempt on Sunday.

“Surgery went well! Thanks for the prayers. God is great!” Robinson wrote over a photo that appeared to be taken in a hospital room at the D.C. medical center.

The surgery was performed for gunshot wounds to Robinson’s glute and lower leg, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Robinson’s injuries were reportedly non-life threatening.

Two potential suspects have been identified in the robbery, which allegedly involved two men attempting to steal the rim off Robinson’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. Additionally, a gun has been recovered.

On Sunday night, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said in a tweet that hevisited Robinson after the armed robbery took place.

“He is in good spirits and wanted me to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers & support,” Rivera wrote. “He wants his teammates to know he appreciates them all for reaching out and he loves them all & will be back soon doing what he does best.”

Robinson’s playing future is unclear.

“Football is not important here, but since we cover football: Robinson has not been ruled out for playing at some point this season,” Rapoport tweeted.
