The Rams won’t be getting anything for Cooper Kupp.
Los Angeles floated the star wide receiver in the trade market, but after being unable to find the right trade partner, released the former Pro Bowler on Wednesday.
“Eight years of incredible memories,” Kupp wrote in a post on X. “We talked often about the Rams being back in LA and how we would grow to be something special here. And there was frustration early on around getting the buy in from the people of LA. But we knew at the end of the day, it’s about providing moments. Shared experiences. The things that parents and their children will talk about and remember forever.
“That is what makes the ending of these last eight years so difficult. It’s the ending of something we have enjoyed building with you. Thank you for these shared moments. Thank you LA for welcoming my family with open arms and allowing us to grow here.”
Kupp had a massive cap hit of $29.78 million in 2025, a very challenging number for other teams to fit into their available space.
The 31-year-old, who has suffered numerous injuries over the past three seasons, is expected to have a robust free agency market — and he seems keen on finding his next landing spot.

Kupp appeared upset throughout his final season with the Rams as budding star Puka Nacua took the reins as the preferred option for quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Among potential teams looking for a wide receiver that could still have cap space to bring him in are the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions.
Washington was previously expected to be in the mix, but their trade for Deebo Samuel likely takes them out of the running for Kupp.

Kupp, fresh off a season in which he posted 710 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 67 receptions, heads to a free agent market rife with veteran talent.
Stefon Diggs, Amari Cooper, Keenan Allen, Tyler Lockett and Brandin Cooks remain available, with the likes of DeAndre Hopkins settling for $5 million from the Ravens and Darius Slayton returning to the Giants on a three-year, $36 million deal.
Davante Adams, Kupp’s replacement in L.A., secured a two-year deal worth $46 million.
