Cooper Kupp’s time with the Rams has seemingly come to an end after he revealed that Los Angeles was “seeking a trade immediately” to move the wide receiver to the “right place” for the receiver to continue to compete for a championship.

Kupp posted the news on Monday night along with a photo of him hugging his wife, Anna Croskrey, after the Rams won the Super Bowl in 2022 and an audio clip of the Rams drafting him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The social media post indicated that Kupp did not agree with the Rams’ decision.

“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA,” he wrote on X.

Kupp has played all eight seasons of his NFL career with the Rams and helped the franchise win its first Super Bowl title in 22 years in a 23-20 win over the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

The 31-year-old led the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1.947) and receiving touchdowns (16) during the Rams’ championship season.

However, Kupp is coming off a down season in 2024 in which he recorded 710 receiving yards – the fewest he’s had since 2018 – and six touchdowns as the Rams went 10-7 to win the NFC West.

“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember,” he wrote.

“I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us. 2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys.. But coming for it all.”

There certainly should be a market for Kupp now that the Rams have made it clear that they intend to trade him, but his contract could make the task a little harder.

Kupp still has two years left on his current contract and whoever acquires him would have to deal with a $20 million salary for the 2025 season and a $19.85 million salary in 2026, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Whether Kupp would still be playing for the Rams next season had been up in the air after their season came to an end.

NFL insider Dianna Russini reported Monday that the Rams had held trade talk involving Kupp midseason, but opted to keep him.

And at locker clean-out day last month, Kupp said that he would be playing football in 2025, though for what team was unknown.

“Do I want to play next year? Oh yeah,” he said. “There’s no doubt in my mind I want to play football. I feel like I’ve got a lot of good football left in me. I definitely will be playing — I will be playing football next year. That much I know.”

The news seemed to come as a bit of a surprise to several of his teammates who reacted to the news on social media.

Fellow wide receiver Puka Nacua wrote on X, “So I thought it was just the NBA trade season.”

“My heart can’t take this… one of the most amazing teammates I have ever,” Rams safety Quentin Lake added.
