Odell Beckham didn’t work out for the Cowboys, but the team seemingly saw all it needed to.

On Monday, the Cowboys signed veteran receiver T.Y. Hilton for what they hope is a deep playoff run.

“Great addition,” coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday. “We’ll get him out there Wednesday and get him acclimated. … He had a workout. Everything passed with flying colors.”

Dallas becomes the second team Hilton will have played for in his career, after he spent 10 seasons with the Colts, the franchise that selected him in the third round of the 2013 draft. In 143 career games, he’s racked up 9,691 receiving yards with 53 touchdowns, including a league-leading 1,448 yards in 2016.

The four-time Pro Bowler has yet suit up this season, but McCarthy expects him to be able to slide right into the NFL’s 10th ranked offense.

“The timing is right,” the coach said. “He’s ready to go.”

The signing comes after the Cowboys appeared to be going hard after Beckham for weeks. Owner Jerry Jones and multiple players — including QB Dak Prescott and linebacker Micah Parsons — heavily courted the star wideout, who is still working his way back from a torn ACL sustained in the 2022 Super Bowl. Beckham reportedly refused to workout for the Cowboys, Giants or Bills, the three teams most heavily linked to him. Whatever turned up in the Dallas medical review was apparently enough to send the Cowboys in another direction.

That likely leaves Hilton as the No. 3 option behind CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, with Noah Brown, Jalen Tolbert, James Washington and returner KaVontae Turpin also available to catch Prescott’s throws.
