The black cat karma appears to have run out for the Cowboys.
Ahead of “Sunday Night Football” against the Minnesota Vikings, Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith was seen wearing a T-shirt featuring MetLife’s now-famous feline, as he made his way into the facility. In the photo, the cat is wearing a “Hot Boyz” necklace, a nickname for Dallas’ defensive line.
While the black cat’s magic may have helped the Cowboys get a win over the Giants last week, it appears the karma train left the station a little early as Dallas fell to the Vikings at home, 28-24, dropping their record to 5-4.
The Cowboys are now tied for first place with the Eagles in the NFC East.
Dallas appeared to get ahead of itself, announcing the black cat as a member of its starting lineup as part of their pregame introductions, posting a picture of the cat on the video board and dubbing it the “MVP Rally Cat” along with a No. 9 — presumably for nine lives. At least one fan at the game wore a black cat mask and there was a black cat stuffed animal in the stands.
The Cowboys might need a new rallying cry as they prepare for the Lions next week.
