Jason Peters means it as a compliment.

“I just know the Philly fans are f–king idiots,” he told reporters on Wednesday, days before his Cowboys face the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. “But they know that. They pride themselves on being nasty, vulgar.”

The game marks a homecoming for the veteran offensive tackle, who played in Philadelphia for 12 seasons before leaving for Chicago in 2021. He signed with Dallas, the Eagles’ NFC East rival last offseason, and the 40-year-old knows what to expect out of the Philly faithful.

“They going to cuss at you,” he said. “They going to throw stuff. They pride they self on that, so they know that. Philly fans is the wildest fans out there to me.”

Despite Peters downplaying his return as “just another game for me,” it’s clear the city holds a special place in his heart. That doesn’t mean he plans to take it easy on the Eagles.

“I got my first Super Bowl [in 2018]. I laid a lot of bricks there,” Peters said. “Philly, that’s my city. Just to go back, it’ll be great to beat ’em.”

On the flip side, he doesn’t expect his arrival to inspire a softer side of Eagles fans. In fact, he’s ready for the same treatment he’s seen them dole out over the years to opposing players.

“Them fans, they so wild,” he said. “They might go to throwing stuff at me,” he said. “I’m not expecting nothing worse than them throwing stuff at me.”
