At least one division rival is pounding the table for the Giants to pay Saquon Barkley.

Micah Parsons, the Cowboys’ superstar edge rusher, responded to a Twitter user who suggested Barkley was “wearing down” at the end of the 2022 season amid reports that the 26-year-old running back will not sign his franchise tag before the Giants’ offseason program begins next week.

“I mean yeah that’s what happens when you the best players on your team you idiot!!” Parsons tweeted. “The scheme on Monday morning is we well not let SAQUON BARKLEY BEAT Us!! People just think we be out here playing free for all!! Like gtfo! That mf is that offense! Pay him!”

Barkley, who was slapped with the franchise tag after the team agreed to a $160 million deal with quarterback Daniel Jones, is not the only Giants player who is expected to miss some of the offseason program.

Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who is also seeking a new contract, is planning on sitting out some of the offseason program, as well.

It became a topic on Michael Lombardi’s “GM Shuffle” podcast, in which the former NFL general manager accused the Giants of suffering from the “disease of me.”

In the video, Lombardi said: “Everybody in that locker room knows the reason they won wasn’t because of Daniel Jones. He had something to do with it, but he didn’t carry the team. The players know this. You can’t con the players.

“Chronic feeling of underappreciation. Saquon feels underappreciation. Daniel doesn’t, but Saquon does. Dexter does. This is what happens. And they didn’t win enough, and they’re not good enough as a team, to be able to go though this. They didn’t win a championship. They won nine frickin’ games and beat a s–tty Minnesota team and got their ass kicked. They’re not good enough to have the disease of me.”

Warning: Explicit language

Lombardi’s post is what the Twitter user that Parsons quote-tweeted, WBG84, appeared to be responding to when he said Saquon was “wearing down.”

Clearly, Parsons – who lines up against the Giants’ offense twice a year – didn’t agree.

Both players are Penn State graduates, although they did not overlap.

The contract situations for the Giants’ two stars will be a storyline all offseason until resolved.
