Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams was released from the hospital late Thursday afternoon after being involved in a car accident earlier in the day not far from the team’s practice facility in Frisco, Texas.

According to police, Williams was driving a black Corvette southbound on Preston Road around 2:15 p.m. when he collided with a black Infiniti that was traveling northbound and attempting to cross in front of him. Williams and the other driver, who police said is 71 years old, were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution but they did not appear to have serious injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time and police are investigating whether speed was a factor, according to ABC affiliate WFAA.

Williams, a 23-year-old rookie whom Dallas selected in the second round of this year’s NFL draft with the 56th overall pick, has been a regular part of the Cowboys’ defensive line rotation throughout this season. He has 18 tackles, three sacks, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in 13 games.

The Cowboys are aware of the accident, according to ESPN.

Whether Williams will be available Saturday when the Cowboys play the Eagles will be determined after Friday’s practice.
