Trevon Diggs’ season is over.

The Dallas Cowboys cornerback suffered a torn ACL during practice on Thursday, with an MRI confirming the team’s worst fear for Diggs.

Diggs was seen on crutches following practice, and the injury seemed to have occurred during the one-on-one portion of practice.

“Thank you for all the prayers and I appreciate everyone for checking on me!,” Diggs wrote on X, formerly Twitter on Thursday evening. “This is just God’s Plan. I will be back and better!”

According to the team, there is no timetable established for his return yet.

It’s the first major injury the Cowboys’ corner has suffered since he had a hairline fracture in his foot during his rookie season and had to miss four games.

Diggs has only missed one game in each of the past two seasons.

The injury is a big blow for the Cowboys’ secondary, which had recorded a league-high five interceptions through the first two weeks of the NFL season.

Diggs has only allowed 26 yards on just two receptions through the first two games of the year.

He picked up his first interception of the year in the Cowboys’ Week 2 win over the Jets.

The Cowboys had played, and defeated, both New York teams to start the 2023 campaign.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spoke briefly on the matter Thursday.

“Some of you saw him leaving the field, so prayers to him,” Prescott told reporters, according to ESPN. “Simple as that.”

Micah Parsons had encouraging words for his fellow defender.

“I am my brothers keeper! I got you 7! No more need to be said!” he said on X with pictures of the two together on the field.

Diggs had signed a five-year contract extension during training camp worth $97 million.

As part of the deal, he received a $21.25 million signing bonus, and the extension guaranteed $42.3 million.

The Cowboys will face the Arizona Cardinals on the road this weekend.
